Welcome to FAAHA

Fluoroquinolone Antibiotic Awareness & Healing Alliance (FAAHA)

The first alliance of its kind, FAAHA, includes healthcare providers and doctors from all over the country, whose experience is unmatched in helping with Fluoroquinolone Toxicity. These doctors and providers are joining forces, to develop best practices and learn from each other in helping Floxed patients get better and heal. Look no further - You now have a team of experts comfortable in addressing your challenges and giving you Hope in healing.

If you were Floxed, and are currently undergoing treatment for Fluoroquinolone Toxicity, with little to no improvement in symptoms, or even with new or worsening symptoms, please get a SECOND OPINION.
It is possible your testing was incomplete, the full extent of the damage was not fully assessed and therefore your treatment is not working.

What every Fluoroquinolone Toxicity patient should know about FAAHA:

Fluoroquinolone Toxicity (FQT) is a very complex problem. For starters, it is difficult to diagnose for doctors, and from there, many doctors do not have individualized protocols in place for patients suffering from FQT. A patient's symptoms can be wide-ranging and varied and change over time. Patient support needed requires individualized attention across several advanced medical specialties. These include but are not limited to endocrine support, cellular support, mitochondrial and DNA functional support, oxygenation, immune system support, management of the body's energy systems, digestive support, musculoskeletal support, orthopedic doctor and physical therapy, neurological support and rehab, diet therapy, sleep hygiene and therapies, as well as many more. One doctor cannot solve all these issues.

FAAHA doctors understand this and therefore are excited to form this alliance. Every FAAHA doctor represents a sub-specialty that Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Patients need and could benefit from! These doctors have been helping patients individually for decades and have now formed this much-needed alliance to take their patient care to the next level and help them HEAL.

AS A FAAHA PATIENT, YOU WILL FIND THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERT CARE THAT
YOU NEED TO HEAL

FAAHA doctors have been helping patients with this toxicity for years. Some have even experienced it personally and openly share their personal journey with patients. These practitioners are licensed and credentialed medical doctors, Functional Med Doctors, Naturopaths, Clinical Nutritionists, Physical Therapists,  Naturopathic Doctors, Head and Neck (cervical and Spinal support) experts, Acupuncturists, Dieticians, and many more. Some FAAHA members are also FAAHA patients and patient care advocates who understand the importance of a sound support group/system as a patient navigates this issue.
Have you been diagnosed with Fluoroquinolone Toxicity?
Are you wondering if your symptoms are related to Fluoroquinolone Toxicity? Are you doing some treatment but would like a second opinion? Your doctor can help you with some aspects of it, but you'll likely need additional support...Please don't hesitate to contact FAAHA.
We are here to help you!
Why do FAAHA doctors have such amazing results with their
Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Patients?

THREE MAIN REASONS!

State-of-the-art
Comprehensive Lab Testing, Imaging and Assessment

If you don't want your FQT Problem to keep lingering, then guessing what might be wrong with you or about the extent of damage is not an option!

Comprehensive assessment and testing are vital to identifying the underlying root cause of your problems. No FAAHA patient is allowed to bypass this first and most critical step!

Many individuals take Fluoroquinolones, but not all develop Toxicity. Also, the spectrum of issues in each FQT patient is different. So, the two big assessment questions are:

Why did you develop the Toxicity, to begin with? What was the underlying issue in your system that predisposed you to develop this Toxicity?

What is the extent of the damage?
Fluoroquinolone can wreak havoc on multiple systems within the body. This can be at the cellular level, mitochondrial level, DNA, organ systems, and more...so a complete Cellular, Physiological, Structural, and Neurological Assessment is KEY.

Dealing with such complex system failures typically affects patients' emotional balance and mental state. Understanding this is key to helping the patient understand what lies ahead, how to get better, and ultimately HEAL.

With proper assessment testing, FAAHA doctors create your "baseline." Patients love this because it not only validates the issues they've been experiencing, they can now measure their progress and truly understand their goal of HEALING.

Different components of a complete assessment below:
  • The initial consultation starts over the phone. Once you submit your information below, a member of the Care Coordination Team will contact you to start the process. This team will also be your point of contact for any concerns or questions you may have along the way.
  • Complete Patient History: Do you have any pre-existing conditions? How far are you into your Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Journey, and how much progress, if any, have you made?
  • Your Existing Lab Work: Our coordinator will help you organize and share any current lab work and medical history reports as part of your initial assessment.
  • Comprehensive Lab Work: If you are in Minnesota, this can take several days and will require in-office visits. Understanding your body's physiology and biochemistry are very important. If you are out of town, we will start tests remotely and then schedule a 3-5 day in-patient assessment.
  • Comprehensive Physical and Structural Assessment with State-of-the-art imaging: This is done as part of your in-person visit. Physical Disability and Limitations evaluation, Assessment of Compensatory Patters, Advanced MRI (standing MRI), Digital Motion X-ray, Ultrasound evaluation of any physical degeneration. These are just some of the tools utilized as part of your initial assessment.
  • Comprehensive emotional assessment: Can be started virtually, then completed when you are available for an in-person assessment.

Individualized Comprehensive
Multi-disciplinary
Care and Personalized Protocols

Once we have established a baseline, the treatment protocol specific to you is developed and shared with you. The treatment is Multi-disciplinary, representing every sub-specialty you need with personalized protocols.

The input on this treatment comes from the work of FAAHA doctors across many different sub-specialties. These include, but are not limited to your:

Cellular health, Physiological and Biochemical assessment, Structural and Movement Assessment, Neurological State and Health, Your Gut health, and finally, your body's ability to handle treatment.

A special note: Please understand that even the proper treatment can be challenging to take when the body is weak and unprepared. Therefore, the treatment is developed with you and only YOU in mind.

FAAHA doctors want you to HEAL.
Not just provide symptomatic relief, but HEAL. To do that, we want to address the root issues in your body that made you susceptible to this toxicity, to begin with.

When it comes to healing properly, many things could go wrong. Therefore, there are specific checkpoints created in your treatment plan to ensure smooth recovery and treatment.

Some key components to your treatment plan below:
  • All treatment is individualized based on your testing and baseline assessment: You know the treatment will work because it is based on your body's needs.
  • Duration of Treatment:  FAAHA doctors generally ask FQT Patients to give them 6 to 18 months for complete healing. We know this seems like a long time, and we have had patients get better sooner, but our goal is to make you strong and help you heal completely, which doesn't happen overnight.
  • Cost of Treatment: FAAHA treatment is generally not covered by insurance. Having said that, if there are components of treatment and testing your insurance does cover, FAAHA doctors are happy to work with your provider, with one caveat; they be Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Literate. Too many doctors don't take the time to understand the nuances of Fluoroquinolone Toxicity and impede the progress of our patients. We do not work with these providers.
  • The GOAL with every patient is COMPLETE HEALING. FAAHA doctors don't just treat the symptoms and mask your problems; that is not healing. It's a temporary relief, at best. The goal at FAAHA is to get to the root cause of your issues and resolve them, so you don't need ongoing drugs and therapies. The goal is to heal you so you can move on with your life and not need your FAAHA doctors and practitioners.

Emotional Wellbeing Support Group / Patient Support Every step of the way!

When it comes to your health, it starts with the Gut, but your Mind controls everything.

DO YOU HAVE HOPE?

DO YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN HEAL?

Dealing with such complex system failures almost always affects the patients' emotional balance and mental health. Where are you emotionally at the start of this treatment? What kind of support system do you have in place?

YOU ARE YOUR PLACEBO!

The best treatment won't work if the patient doesn't believe they can get better. To ensure success, FAAHA doctors are committed to helping patients have a solid emotional foundation and the proper support to HEAL. (What are your barriers to emotional healing-  do you have any)?

Part of our mission is to Repair Your HOPE and help you get back to trusting your body and its ability to HEAL.

FAAHA doctors and practitioners are here for you with their support group every step of the way!

Here are some things you should know:
  • You can HEAL! While your problem is complex, it can be treated. With the right support, we have seen many patients get their lives back; You can too!
  • We have the time for you! Most doctors don't have time for your complex condition, but FAAHA doctors are different. Your initial assessment with Dr. Hanson, for example, is over 2 hours. When was the last time any insurance-covered doctor spent 2 hours with you?
  • A significant component of our HEALING is to ensure you believe in your body and your ability to overcome this condition. Starting with the first phone call, FAAHA doctors and practitioners emphasize your role in your healing and your emotional health. They will keep reminding you of that and provide whatever support you need to get there.
  • At times, the treatment may be challenging, but you are stronger: You can do this and overcome this problem and get your life back. Never give up hope. Tap into that inner strength. We are here for you!
  • NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU AND YOUR BODY: We, the FAAHA doctors and practitioners, won't ever give up on you, and we hope you don't either!

Patient Testimonial:

I started working with Dr. Hanson because I was experiencing significant nerve and Achilles tendon pain that began shortly after I started taking fluoroquinolone antibiotics. At the time I began seeing him, the pain in my feet had persisted for more than 18 months and was significantly limiting my mobility and quality of life. The pain left me unable to exercise or walk more than short distances; even routine activities such as going to the grocery store would exceed my threshold causing the pain to flare.

Not only was Dr. Hanson the most knowledgable about my condition, he was able to offer “outside the box” treatment options that have been very helpful. Since beginning treatment with Dr. Hanson, I’ve experienced significant improvement in both pain and activity levels. I’ve been able to increase my average daily step count from 2000 to 8000 steps per day and have been able to resume exercise.

What impresses me most about Dr. Hanson is his unusual level of care for his patients. Not only does he listen to and respect what his patients say, but he puts significant thought into devising an individualized treatment plan that will help them most. On several occasions, he’s taken time on an evening or weekend to call me with a new idea or just to check in to see how I was progressing. Dr. Hanson is genuinely motivated by helping his patients get well and I’m thankful that he’s been able
to help me.

— S. I.

Fluoroquinolone Toxicity (FQT) is not a problem that goes away on its own or gets better with time; it requires treatment. Patients have come to see FAAHA doctors 10 to 15 years after they were "floxed." FQT is a complex problem to diagnose and even more challenging to treat. The treatment almost always requires a multidisciplinary approach. One doctor does not have all the answers and cannot heal all the issues that a Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Patient is dealing with…hence the building of our alliance!
